 Amristar is located in the state of punjab in the northwestern part of India. Here is the list of few must-visit tourist attractions in Amristar.

1. Golden Temple (Sri Darbar Sahib Amristar)

Mandir is built on a marble square, measuring around 67 feet square and upper dome is built with gold leaf weighing approximately 400 kg and surrounded by Amrit Sarovar. Golden Mandir is considered as a holy place for sikhs.

2. Jallianwallabagh

This memorial is built in memory of 2000 Indians killed by the British General Michael O Dyer on April 13, 1919. A section of the wall with a bullet mark is still preserved along with the well. A detailed story of this massacre is described in the Martyrs Gallery within the historical monument.

3. Wagah Border:

An International border separating India and Pakistan. A huge number of tourists gather here to witness the splendid military ceremony that takes place everyday.

4. Durgiana Temple:

Durgiana temple was built in the 16th century and is dedicated to the goddess Durga. Shree Lakshmi Narayana Mandir, the main temple, is built with a golden dome and door which is beautifully engraved in silver. There are many religious carvings and inscriptions at the outer wall.

5. Akal Takht Sahib:

Located within the Golden Temple, Akal Takht Sahib is considered as one the five Takhts of Sikshs, It is considered as a place of justice , where important decisions and meetings were held by the sikhs.

6. Gobindgarh fort:

Spread over 43 acres, considered as one of the oldest historical place in Amristar. Initial construction of the fort is started by Gujar singh and it is completed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. It is built for the purpose of protecting Amristar from invasion, so it is called as “ Gaurdian of the holy city of Amristar”.

Being the Holy City, Amristar has much more to offer tourists, with its cultural heritage and historical places.
